Management/Establishment

The Benue State Scholarships Board consists of Chairman and Members who are responsible for formulating, reviewing, initiating policies and programmes. The Executive Secretary, who is appointed by the (Governor) for a renewable tenure of four years is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Board.

The Board has three distinct departments namely:

Administration and Finance;

Operations and Evaluation ;

Planning, Research and Statistics.

Administration and Finance

  • The department is directly responsible to the Executive Secretary;
  • Preparation of estimates;
  • Liaising with other departmental heads in respect of annual performance, reports, promotion and discipline;
  • Responsible for staff training;
  • Member Senior Staff Management Committee;
  • Any other duties to be assigned by the Executive Secretary.

Operations and Evaluation

  • The department is directly responsible to the Executive Secretary;
  • Handling of Scholarship payment evaluation;
  • Initiating Scholarship policies;
  • Initiation for the promotion and discipline of the Department staff;
  • Member of Annual Estimates Committee;
  • Any other duties to be assigned by the Executive Secretary.

Planning, Research and Statistics

  • The department is directly responsible to the Executive Secretary;
  • Member of Annual Estimates Committee (Collection of all departmental/section’s proposals for the Budget and compilation of whole raw proposal for the Board’s Estimate)
  • Getting the total cost of needs of students in Nigerian Higher Institutions of learning across the country as well as Handicapped students/pupils of Benue State origin for every academic year;
  • Collecting and processing Scholarship data;
  • Responsible for preparing Statistical Booklet on Scholarship session by session;
  • Supervision of the duties in the Research, Planning and Development Department;
  • Any other duties to be assigned by the Executive Secretary.
